Arbor Day Planting

     The Club will plant a flowering tree at a designated location.

 

Earth Day Community

     Members participate in the annual neighborhoo clean-up in partnership with Keep Rockland Beautiful, Inc., a nonprofit member of Keep America Beautiful.

Meals on Wheels

     Members will make flower arrangements which will be donated to Meals on Wheels for the enjoyment of those in our community.

 

New City Library Childrens' Garden

     The Clarkstown Garden Club Members assist the librarian in educating children in the

preparation, planting and maintenance of a lovely walled-in garden outside the children's room.

 

People to People

     Each year the club makes a food donation in time for the Holidays.

United Hospice of Rockland

     Members are involved in planting, maintaining and beautifying the gardens located on the front lawn of the United Hospice of Rockland building located at 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY. They also plant and maintain the vegetable garden at the Raso Center on Buena Vista Road, New City, NY. UHR is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide care, hope, comfort and quality of life to individuals and their families facing serious illness as well as support members of our community who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

 

Joe Raso Hospice Residence

    A) Clarkstown Garden Club members will plant, maintain and harvest the Vegetable Garden.

    B) Members will design and create a new perennial garden bed in an effort to bring comfort to the residents and their families.

Ways and Means

     Explores fundraising ideas and presents them to the club members for approval. Manages and carries out the events.

 

Fall Plant Exchange

     A plant exchange is held in October. Members will be asked to propagate plants and bring plant divisions to the October meeting. Members are encouraged to explore different propagating techniques (i.e. air layering, root cuttings etc.) to further horticultural education.

 

Flower Exhibits

     Designated members will prepare floral designs for each monthly meeting.

(100% member participation)

 

Horticulture/Study of the Month

     Each month members will discuss various gardening topics including tips on growing beautiful bedding roses.
